sadly though, i havent been taking pictures over the holidays, been pretty much reading and watching movies but there was a lot of inspiration there.
the last fiction book I read is called sugar street, by Naguib Mahfouz, its the third book in the cairo trilogy (palace walk, palace of desire, sugar street) and it tells the story of a traditional Egyptian family (you should definately read it from the first book) and how it seems that their minds are only concentrated to one direction, one point of view.
It seems at home, the father is the master and fear is spread when seeing him, not only that though, affection is also felt for him.
as the story ends from the first book to the third, you can see a major change in the traditional customs, modernization, the minds of the characters start to evolve, but still the delicate love for the father (even though he kept a big secret from his family, and the women in the family never found out about it) was always there, and death was an uninvited guest which opens our eyes more about it (atleast it did to me).
the good thing about the book is you get a really sharp picture in your mind of how the old districts were. and what I love about it, the essence of the story has really taken your mind from where you really are to that description of place.
i hope i could get the shots im thinking of when i read this book. o btw, if theres any good book around please inform me
thanx
